Firewire Facts: 25% of shipped computers by 1999; 90% by 2001.

Up to 63 devices.

Transfer rates at 100 Mbps, 200, and 400.

What is particularly interesting is that connected devices can communicate directly with each other without CPU usage!

2 wire power and 4 wire communications for a total of a six wire connector cable.

This is important; USB is $1 additional cost to a PC; Firewire is just, and get this, $15. additional cost to a PC.

27 ports available.

Applications are same as SCSI. Less expensive than SCSI. This is why Firewire won't be the salvation of Adaptec; there isn't any margin in this.
