Sergio:

A great article...

There will always be investing oppty's in any environment... Especially during times when the market is discounting many stocks... The question remains whether you go with the flow of the market or try to pick the turning points... The current flow of the market has a downward bias... This tends to take down about 75% of the stocks, the good and the bad...

The current Advance/Decline numbers and New High/New Low numbers are negative... As such, the odds are 3 to 1 that stocks in most portfolios will go down... Even today, what some may have called a Reversal, took place while more stocks went down than went up... The big money that flowed into some big companies today can't come to the rescue every day to mask the overall market weakness...

The cracks are there, and are getting harder to patch up... In addition to the Asian problems, Russia now has a big jump in interest rates... There is a limit to how much Investors in Island America can be shielded from the economic crumblings around us... Sooner or later the dam will burst... I just want to make sure that I have cash on hand to buy the distressed equities as they float down stream...

Jim
