I have to start believing ASND could be in some serious trouble.

Everyone is so pessimistic.... I guess we are going to have a great day tomorrow! Probably end up with a 3 1/2 point gain...

Come on... LU competing with ASCEND??? Is that the same LU that did so well with NCR... with Paradyne? What products does LU have? What expertise does LU have in addressing the IP and data markets? Who is trained on their equipment? They surely cannot do anything to hurt ASND in the short term. LU has a long way to go before they can even play in this market.

Besides, ASND is serious about deeper penetration into the systems integration markets. They have offered to pay me to add a sales person, to my sales staff, whose primary focus is on ASND products. You can not be more aggressive than paying the salary of a sales person who is on some one else's payroll.

LOL LU!

beachman, what's the deal with the pessimism? ASND has great new products right now. For competitive reasons, many customer decisions are being made right now, not in late 1998 and early 1999 when LU and CSCO products are expected (vaporware for now) -- a full year behind ASND.

Is everyone forgetting about ASND's excellent installed base in large carriers and ISPs in the US, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China and soon in Latin America? As someone on the thread pointed out, it's very difficult to retrain personnel and displace existing vendors as long as they are executing and are pumping out next generation product. djane

This is typical "serious trouble". Lu will ship Q1 99, and CSCO is coming out with a new Remote Access "Acend Killer". Lu is not tested, and CSCO is on their second "Ascend Killer". Yada, yada, yada.
