ok...I'm ready to let the smoke clear...

we probably agree on much of the same although I am sure we have some clear disagreements...

1) You claim my lack of knowledge of history...you clearly
haven't had enough discussions with me to know this...what
you state about Burn's and the plantations and racism is
repeated so often that an illiterate person could repeat the
same mantra....it is clearly the only thing left for the
Democrats to hang on to..

2) to claim that Island dwellers should accept politics the way they are is simply foolish and in fact contradicts the very 40 year old Burn's revolution you harp on...

3) to say that 70% of residents simply vote Democratic flies
right in the face of hard facts.
A) The majority of voters chose Ronald Reagan in 1984
B) Frank Fasi has been mayor both as a Republican and Dem
C) In the last race for Governor the Democrat, our current
Governor received a little more than a third of the vote even
with a huge government worker's push....2/3's went to the Republican Saiki and Independent Fasi.

4) Peter Carlise knocked off Arakawa in the Prosecutor's race in the last election proving that public is interested in getting the man with the best conservative message...not the best local name

5) Arnold Morgado had an extremely poor showing in the last mayor's race despite heavy backing from the governor and a "local" campaign theme.

6) the current Republican candidates are extremely progressive and in fact are the representatives of the little guy...I suggest you take a look at Lingle, Slom, Kawananakoa, Pendleton, Fox ...to name a few and see if they are in line with the people (you might be surprised at your own ignorance)

You see Muench...times are changing ...

and in 1998...those who don't want to discuss the arrogance and failings of the current regime are on the way out...even the pride of Hawaii...Rainbow football just got the boot from the mainland "WAC" and the political leaders are now on their knees beggin to get back in...

your anthropological perspective and comparison to other Island nations is cute...but inapplicable and irrelevant to Hawaii...
there are no comparisons...our people and history are unique

Hawaii is the best place to live in the world...the people
just want a fair chance to survive...they don't want their
politicians sucking them dry...here is the essence of the
failure of the Democrats and the reason why the only certainty
about the future of Hawaii is change and surf

Aloha
