For whoever is interested; In the last two days there has been much higher than usual option volume in ABX, and NEM. Specifically 2,500 of the june 20 calls were purchased in ABX, and 4,500 of the july 25 calls today. The buyer was a customer of Society General. In NEM yesterday 1,000 of the june 22.5 calls and 2,000 of the july 25 calls were purchased, today more of the July 25 calls traded.
This is much higher than usual option trading for both stocks, and there has been no other significant amounts of option activity in the other gold producers( at least not that I saw)..The XAU had a bit of call activity yesterday and today, but not an unusual amount.
Looking at the open interest it appears that the trades in ABX and NEM were opening trades.
Does anybody have access to the Canadian option volume for Barrick today, and if so was there a like situation?

xdll,
Thanks for the ABX update, this company continues to become more attractively priced. This is one gold stock I have never failed to make money on, buying it or its options at good entry points.
I would like to keep it that way.
$50 an ounce is great production cost!
