Charlie's hoedown is just his annual meeting at Wesco. It goes for hours. I mention it because he cuts through the bullshit.

I agree that contracts expire. I agree that cables are useless once the contract expires. However a new contractor has to figure out a way to install new cable cost effectively, or buy the old one. A new owner of a hotel will be faced with a buy or build decision. I think that usually it will be more cost effective to stay with their current provider.

"The boxes are quickly obsoleted." - Which boxes?

The cables are not obsoleted as delivery devices. Over-the-cable technology will need to keep up. Satellite delivery is fine for scheduled programming, but a problem for on-demand streaming programming. Satellites have limited bandwidth and cannot stream to all individuals - you have bursts and need buffers. I see satellite as complementary not competing. My concern about the LNET's and ONCO's is that they are cable guys - analog. The issue is where are they going with digital technology?
