<<I though the FTC's perceived problem was Intel pounding the crap (unfairly?) out of any competition>>

Beating your competition is not the problem, par se. Becoming a monoploy is not illegal either. Using unfair means to beat your competition is, so is using your monoply power to control a market and expand into and dominate new markets.

An example is to tie a products sale to the purchase of another. This is exactly what MS does with IE, force box makers to buy IE in order to get windows....

My initial feeling about the actions against MS vs Intel is that Microsoft IS predatory in it's actions while intel is not. I think the case against Intel will go nowhere. Microsoft, that is another story...

Re -- FTC investigation...

Seems to me that the DOJ is intruding into normal business practices, when as in the case of the "integraph" suit, they should allow the marketplace and the courts decide (Intel lost the intergraph case).

Wonder if IBM (Gerstner -- who came from using political lobbying at RJR Nabisco) was a LARGE contributor to the Democratic campaign....

Seems like its more of a political decision for the DOJ to go after Intel.

Will Cisco be next? and then other companies who have 80% or more marketshare in their own niche?

Tony - Re: " K6-me-2', as Paul says. "

Yes - I use this expression but somebody else "invented it" - not me.

By the way - did you like the Strong Support Group AMD had today to testify to the power of the K6-Me-2?

There was CTX, CyberSmash Tiger Direct and "Charlie's Tuna and PC Canned Goods" showing their K6-Me-2 PCs! Jerry Sanders loves rubbing shoulders with these industry illuminaries!
