Jeff,

Is there any doubt in your mind that DPMI is well aware of the Ultrabeam paper you mention and the Ultrabeam's capabilities, or could they be married to ETEC and have their head in the sand? As an owner of DPMI, I was wondering if this should be brought to their attention?

DPMI is a leading global mask maker. Rumour has it that UTEK got into this business at the request of the merchant mask makers. The probability that DPMI doesn't know much more than you and I about the Ultrabeam V2000 is very close to zero, IMO.

One reason why DPMI may not have a V2000 is that UTEK won't sell a second machine prior to the PLAB machine being accepted by PLAB into production.

These tools seem to be very high precision, very difficult to manufacture, test, debug and install in production. The constraint on selling more seems to be ability to manufacture and deliver a quality product not the receipt of an order. I don't expect serious pricing pressure within the near future.

FWIW,
Ian.
