Really? A lot? My husband and I go out to eat at least twice a month- working our way through a fine dining guide. We have had five waiters (all under 30) and 12 waitresses (all under 30). However, as I said our local Lyon's and our local Denny's are staffed by much older ladies (not a single waiter). Now I did not say that age discrimination does not exist other places- nor did I imply that. But I know it is especially keen in better restaurants because at some they only bought certain sizes of uniforms- if you were too heavy to fit in the uniform you wouldn't get the job. We had to model the uniforms for the owner at one restaurant- if he didn't like the way the job applicant looked they didn't get the job. Now of course there are laws- but who do you go to and say "I think the boss thought I was too ugly so I didn't get the job."?

I was merely saying that Jim's observation that middle aged ladies could work there way up to working in dinner houses was pure unadulterated hooey.
