How would a "spin off" work? Do they divde the business into one tobacco and and one food section and then give new shares in proportion of the value of the sections? If this happens, why should anybody gain from it? The tobacco part probably would go bankrupt, remaining only the food section which is less worth than the current stock value.
Can anybody help me?

Thanks Ralph!
