More on "The Critic."

If I'm the model, let me observe that I don't keep Webster's, The Chicago Manual of Style, or any other weighty tome handy when I do a critique. As a matter of fact, I was just about to post a request on the Grammar thread, soliciting recommendations for the latest & best in stylistic manuals (because I do not have any).

I just happen to be a professional writer, and so have some experience with trying to get a point across in the most economical, effective way possible.

I repeat, though, that your take-off is very good.

Interestingly, the best short-short stories on this thread tend to involve some kind of violence. Is that because the form requires a heightened dramatic effect, as it were?
