Jim Kelley, re:DELL FUD

You have blended statements from Brian and myself, so it is difficult to address all of your claims. Nonetheless, I have posted URL pointers to CPQ's website -- wherein data defies your claims.

I have no interest in "spinning stories"; on the contrary, I sought to set the record straight by responding to your erroneous claims. Because few retailers advertise via web, it is virtually impossible to provide hard data in support of pricing in my area. (Perhaps you know this?) However, I did provide a link to CPQ's Online store and addressed the post to you. (My hope was that you would clarify or correct your earlier post.)

If you wish to address Brian regarding posts with specific price and configuration data, I suggest you do that directly. (Several people on this thread have corroborated Brian's observations.)

As for story spinning, I would ask that you either provide COST data on associated components or refrain from claiming that systems are being sold below cost.

Jim,
>. In addition, you failed to respond with any data to support your the prices that you put out on the CPQ and DELL systems.<

It is hard to cut-and-paste from newspapers onto these messages :-). The Dell prices were based on the Dell on-line store. My price includes the monitor because that is part of the system. The local stores in NY area maybe using CPQ funds towards discounts. You will Also find it interesting that one can buy an HWP for the same price I mentioned and an NEC for about a $100 less.

Names of stores in the NYC area (these are local chains - 2 to 5 stores each, electronic goods only):
Westbury Camera; Labelle Electronics; PCS Computers.

How about if you send me $1500 and I'll send you one of these systems :-)?
- Brian.
