Jack:

"My ideas would probably cause me to be burnt at the stake by both liberals and conservatives."

Probably, since liberals and conservatives are two sides to the same coin. Language embodies ideas. The greatest orators and writers (such as Twain) knew this very well. America today abounds with inexact language designed to confuse the issue an obscure any chance of a clear understanding. One case in point:

The terms "Right" and "Left" are generally accepted by the populace and employed by the news media almost daily. Yet analyze these terms. Left is usually meant as the definition of a liberal, and far left a socialist and extreme left communism. Right usually means conservative, far right the John Birch Society and extreme right fascism (or Nazism). Where is America defined? Smack in the middle, trying to strike a balance between the left and right? That is what is alluded to by the media and even some textbooks -- yet is it true? Is America defined as trying to strike a balance between two forms of statism (fascism -communism)? Of course not. This is what I call stealth language. It is employed by politicians and journalists who have a hidden agenda to sway, at the deepest intellectual level, the unwary onto a road of misinformation. It is just one example of many thousands.
