Yousef, Re"Merced delays"

Agree with you. From what I hear, there are no major process issues with .18u to delay intro, rather, its just due to the size and complexity of the project - the team size is probably larger than most semiconductor companies and project management issues are to be expected. Also I don't think anyone on the design team is surprised by the delay. BTW also agree with you that anyone who thinks of Alpha as Merced's fallback for Intel really has no clue as to what Merced is all about and why Alpha despite an excellent design is where it is today,

Best Wishes,
- MJ

Yousef, if I understand your "technical" explanation of the "manufacturing problem" that Intel is having with Merced is:

YOU CAN'T FIT 10 LBS. OF SH*T IN A 5 LB. BAG!

How long do you think it will take them to get a 400 mm^2 die size down to something they can handle, like 200 mm^2?
