Brad,

I don't know if this subject has ever been raised, but does SI get personal info off your computer from cookies, or other means?

Hal

Hi Brad,

Could you post the "top people marked and the top subjects" again?

Thanks

Hi Brad!

I have a question about the Hot Subjects list. The HOT STOCKS subject is in the list tonight and there is nothing hot about it:

HOT STOCKS 100% 200% 300% profits possible short term.

Only a few posts here and there. The ICVI thread is getting very active since the beginning of the week and it is no where in the list.

I'm confused. Would you explain how Hot Subjects are selected?

Thanks

Brad, would it be possible to create a place to take private notes, with edit capacity, hooked to each stock thread? It really helps me to be able to remember who recommended a specific stock, what my original strategy was on it, what investment guru got me interested in it, etc.

SI is a wonderful place to do stock research, but as long as I have to have a big cardboard box full of magazine clippings, notes, and lists next to my computer, to match the threads I am following, I am wasting trees and always in danger of breaking my neck after tripping over the box.

Maybe it could say "Private Notes", and be located just to the left of "Bookmark This Subject." Alternatively, it could be a space below the narrative thread description (although some of these are already very long).

Thanks!!

Brad,

Lately, I've noticed quite a few instances where the View X Replies link fails to appear. An example in this thread: #reply-4654042 currently has two responses, #reply-4654537 and #reply-4655580 , although there is no indication of this on the original post's page.

Michael

To all Off Topic*

ATTENTION SI MEMBERS:

You know all those private messages you have all been sending and receiving for some
time? Well, I hate to be the one to point it out to you but they are only private on SI.
AltaVista and other search engines seem to have no problem finding them and making
them available to the world at large...

Oooooppsss!

This was copied and pasted for the following thread:

Laughter is the best medicine.

Interesting, eh'

Brad... a feature to consider...

I just tried to find a particular topical sports reference in a moderately busy thread, and couldn't find it because I was swamped by all the similar talk in many other threads. I know which thread I want to search... surely it would be a small change to be able to restrict the search to just one thread... say, the one which is current when the search is started, since there are search forms on every thread list and message page to give lots of context.

I think this has been mentioned before, but it does have useful, even topical uses, like finding references to earnings or dividend date... or any other common topic which would occur in many threads, in the particular thread you're reading right now.

Thanks always... keep up the good work.

Dick (whose name finds DICKINSON HOLDING....)

I find myself researching 30-40 stocks a day that I see
(pardon the expression), "hyped" on various threads.
If I could click on the stock symbol in a message, to
bring me directly to news, quote, ect., it would certainly save a lot of time and effort. Especially with
my memory the way it is, I often type in the wrong symbol
and must backtrack to correct. How about #-SYMBOL.

My personal pet peeve is the sign + in front of some links. Since May 30th, I have not been able to access those links directly with Netscape.

I have to go through the search feature to link on people's profiles or to bookmark them.

I have to access the Carlson On-line profile on stocks by opening another window and typing in the fin-info.com address and going through the links there.

Nobody else seems to have that problem. I don't have that problem either with Microsoft Internet Explorer. I am curious as to what could cause it.

Here's a curious thing I stumbled upon today. I did a full text search on a word and it brought up several posts. When I clicked on one of them to take me to a post, the message was blank. It appears someone changed his mind and edited everything out, but the first few lines remained in the full text search.

Is this a known feature, a bug, or something else?
