The key is market share. All of the firms know it. That is why there is massive advertising. Did you see the Piper Jaffray breakdown on market share for Internet trades? Schwab gained, E*Trade lost, & the others stayed about the same. The firms know there will a shakeout when the next bear market comes, and to survive they need increased market share. I believe E*Trade will continue to suffer a diminished growth rate, and well as continuing losses in market share. They are making money, I am not denying that. I believe that is actually a negative. Since they are making money, analysts look at them as a brokerage firm with an internet twist, not an pure internet company,as EGRP would like. They don't deserve the current multiple they have, and so the stock will be flat to negative for at least the next 6 months. If you want dead money, you are welcome to continue to hold onto it.
