There are many levels of sophistication among his followers and I believe his recent turn to caution with out admitting to the bear case - yet - may be targeting those followers higher on the investment foodchain to consider adjustments to their portfolios.

I read it differently. I see it as a "risk-reward" issue and I think Bob has been clear about it. His message to many of us here in the mid to high 90's percentage in the market is "take a good look at your risk-rewards considering the market is only going to do 8 to 10% for the forseeable future." I have even heard him specifically caution listeners about getting too scared and jumping out.

I'm slowly adjusting my ratios downward, but I'll probably still be very agressive overall as that is what I do. Another friend who does very well, after I told him my plan to put in a bit a safety, said "what's the point of lowering overall return since we don't need the money anyway?" He had a point as we were both buying beaten down technology large caps last week with gains we took a few weeks before. It is hard to let money sit "idle" at 5% while there are bargains present.

best regards
Kirk

PS Just for grins, I'd consider an Intel buy at the opening Monday if it takes a dump due to Merced delay. Could be some good bargains.

JohnL: re:<Brinkers following? Given his widespread syndication, I'd guess its in the tens of million followers>

I believe Brinker has mentioned on MonweyTalk that his national audience approximates 4 million. He has also said he believes that his issuance of a "sell signal" would not materially impact stock prices.
