Pravin,

>>This is a mistake.

I did say that a monitor and a printer were included (also 48 MB RAM), so that would reduce price of the machine itself to ~$800-900. PB is selling 233 (24 MB RAM) MediaGX for $699, so the 266 is in the same ballpark.

I was too lazy to go to the store to check it out, but I did call a salesman. For what's it worth, here it goes.

It is a MediaGX 266, and they just got them in this weekend. "It's as good as a Pentium II at the same Mhz speed."

Mhz does sell????

"Yes, I am sure the machine is as good as Pentium II 266 computers. They run several hundred $ more"

At least we have one salesman pushing the Cyrix machines(over the phone). But I will check whether the machine is in a corner behind the refrigerators, where Paul finds them.

They also have HP Celery 266 machines with monitor and printer for $1550. Yes, Mhz does sell.

My uneducated guess is that GX266 is = Celery 266, but not as much vitamins.

My other uneducated guess is that GX266 will likely be discounted to $799, or even to $699 when they get a lot more machines. PB should sell tons of them, like Compaq did last year. After all, they are as good as PII 266 machines! : )

>>At the last conference call,
Halla said that the 266 GX had just taped out.

Do you still believe what the guy says??

Regards,
Richard

Pravin,
You might be right that the machine is MII 266. Can't believe news ads either. I doubt they would stick 48 MB RAM in a MediaGX machine. I'll go to the store to check it out tomorrow.

Either way, it's CYRIX INSIDE.

Richard
