Franz ---Why not keep ALTA VISTA and give two years free internet service with each PC to boost sales ? Also let ALTA VISTA be the first issue brought up on the scren with CPQ being a big advertiser for selling their product in concert with a great search engine ?

BEST WISHES
BILL

>>Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember that Yahoo runs on AltaVista.

Not anymore! I know Yahoo has publicly announced AltaVista and they are splitting. I believe Informix (sp??) is taking AltaVista's place. Yahoo didn't like the fact that AltaVista was starting to compete with them in several key areas.

As for AltaVista catching up to Yahoo: Anythings possible, yet that doesn't mean its going to be easy. The same argument for AltaVista could be made for Excite, Lycos, and Infoseek, yet they seem unable as of yet to "catch" Yahoo. Furthermore, Netscape is joing on the bandwagon as will Microsoft later this year. Remember in terms of hits per month, AltaVista is way behind Yahoo as well as Netscape, Infoseek, Lycos, and Excite.
