Yousef, <DEC has been designing and producing CPU's that are much higher performance and faster than what AMD has to offer. Much/some of this is due to DEC's process technology being better than AMD's.>

Here we are again. Are you serious or just kidding?
If you are not joking, America really is in
serious trouble.

You just cannot make it at all, I'm sorry for you.

Kenith, Ali, & Yousef,

Well, the proof is in the pudding! Intel took the PII to 300 Mhz with their 0.35u process and it looks like they will be able to make it to at least 450 Mhz with their 0.25u process. AMD took the K6 to 233 Mhz (with great difficulty) with their 0.35u process. With the speed grades available with the release of the K6-2, I think it is going to be very hard for AMD to get to 400 Mhz with their 0.25u process. At any rate, AMD will be able to do at least 350 Mhz with their 0.25u process, so it appears that AMD's 0.25u process is at least 50 Mhz better than Intel's 0.35u process (not just as bad). Of course, this does not consider differences in processor architecture or physical design expertise.

Also, didn't one of the Intellabees bet that AMD wouldn't be able to hit 350 Mhz by the end of the year?

Pravin.

Yousef,
Any theories on why the K6-2 is no longer available at pricewatch and chipmerchant ? Looks like they pulled it off the shelves.

Yousef,

AMD had partnership with DEC several years ago. AMD opted not to renew the agreements with DEC to make 486's for AMD when it discovered DEC's process technologies are out dated.
