Doesn't a CCD produce an analog signal which is converted to a digital signal?

My 8mm camcorder uses analog tape for recording. And my digital camera uses a CCD that produces a digital signature. So there has to be a "converter" somewhere in the circuit.

Either way you must store the images and no matter how small the capturing device may be, the storage medium is crucial. Is that mentioned in the article? CompactFlash or MMC "shud b" a perfect fit. I personally would not use a camera the size of a watch unless I was a private detective or the like.

Hitachi To Launch New Compact Flash Memory Cards
TOKYO, June 1 (Reuters) - Hitachi said today it would launch sales of 10 and 20 megabyte compact flash memory cards in Japan in August.

The programming speed of the new memory cards was about 50 percent higher than that of previous Hitachi cards, at 350 kilobytes per second for the 10 megabyte card and 600 kilobytes per second for the 20 megabyte model, the company said.

The 10 megabyte card would be sold in Japan for 18,000 yen, while the 20 megabyte model would cost 35,000 yen, it said.

Compact flash cards about the same size as a postage stamp are becoming widely accepted for use in digital still cameras, handheld personal computers and other portable devices.

Hitachi currently sells eight, 15, 30 and 45 megabyte compact flash memory cards.
