Peter: Rather than a Sow's ear it is more like hog jowls. Down here in Charleston, SC it is the main ingredient in Hoppin John. Not one of my all time favorites. The Norfolk Southern trains here (at least the one's that block intersections for 30 minutes at a time plus, mostly haul wood chips to the Westvaco paper mill in North Charleston. Not only do we have to wait for the train, but we also have to contend with a very distinct odor from the paper mill.
