Diane, sorry, but I don't know anything about Shannon Reeves, so I can't really comment on whether I think he would be better than Jerry Brown for mayor. I think that Oakland has so many serious problems that have not been solved by recent black mayors, that perhaps Brown, with all his national recognition and radical energy, might be able to get some things done that others have not. I sure hope so! Oakland deserves good leadership. California's affluence and booming economy have passed this city by to a large degree, and it would be nice to see wonderful things happening there.

I must say it is interesting to have a young black REPUBLICAN running, and I will try to find out more about him. Obviously, a culture of dependence is not very helpful to blacks still stuck in the inner cities, impoverished.
