Bob,

If through Perl I add an extra days data for all companies where olhcv is zero, WoW will accept it and show data as Not Available which is great, because it won't affect the indicators and scans. But if the extra day's data I create is a weekend day, upon importing, WoW will not accept, meaning I have to bypass every unacceptable symbols data (time consuming). So through Perl I must write so that the extra day's data is a trading day only. e.g. a Monday and not a Saturday. How can I do this in Perl?

thanks,

junnie

Junnie...

symbol so that I am left with folders A to Z holding all the company files from an exchange. Now here I am at a bit of a loss for how to move this into WoW without importing each folder one by one, a time consuming process; where do I go from here?

This is similar to what I have. You don't have to import the symbols at all. Do this: From the opening screen in WOW, click CHARTS, then NEW CHART, then DIR. Now, click on the path that will take you to where your Metastock files are.

This might be something like this: Click on drive "C:", next click on the subdir, maybe something like "C:\Metastock", next click on the subdir that contains the "A" symbols. This will be the way the "tree" is set up on your drive. All of this will just go click, click, click and you will be looking at a list of "A" symbols. To chart one, after choosing your template, just click the symbol.

Later, you can create a custom template that shows you exactly the indicators, etc you want to see. But to get going, just pick one of the ready built templates that comes with WOW.

Good luck! You won't have any problems with this.

Ken

WOW reads metastock files directly. importing or merging provides you with the grouping cability which you don't get with direct read.

Even in this day of big hard drives, we need to watch how many times we duplicate files by conversion. Your data vendor is the key. While you want all stocks available. you want the ability to scan or filter down your directories to the few you want to put your time on. While Quotes Plus has all listed stocks, you can pre-scan based on multitudes of filters which then can be outputted to one directory.
