Hi Tom- I would have expected nothing less in the way of preparedness! :-) How fortunate that you have the replacements on hand. I always feel a great loss when a tree goes down. I can't relate well to most other plants, but trees seem to me to be an important part of my surroundings. Menlo Park has some strong ordnances that manage the trees whether they're on public or private property. Nothing gets cut down without a permit, even dead or dying trees. Gives them a chance to see why it died and treat the area if needed. One reason for the concern is the extensive old growth of live oak in the area.

Yes, I got the A/D info. Thank you. Started to mention it in the post you probably saw where I mention A/D. The thought about A/D being more influenced by small cap than large cap struck me as I was typing. Not sure there's any more substance to it than arm waving speculation, but... I'm still digesting and pondering what Fosback said.

Bill R. stopped by last Thursday and we managed a lunch. We were having more crummy weather, but Bill was delighted. He'd heard we got more snow so he was going to get in a couple days more skiing on the way home. He may be able to ski thru most of the summer at this rate!

I almost missed Bill because when I took my car in to get it smogged, they killed it! Couldn't get it started again. They'd inadvertently popped a fuse. Aaaarrgh! I ended up getting there 45 minutes late, but thankfully he hung in there. If he was pissed he sure didn't show it.
