To use the group function, you have to merge or import the files. I never saw any need to do so. Someone else will have to help you there.

But if you put those 100 in one directory, you could scan and follow them.

Junnie...

Actually, my earlier answer was somewhat misleading. As has already been pointed out, you can use PIA to scan your directories from A to Z in a nearly seamless operation. I've used this feature several times, but not very recently.

More specifically concerning your desire to create groups, I can help you there. I had a terrible time learning how to do this, and it's really not difficult unless you make it so.

Let's say you wanted a group of Software companies. You want to test this group against a system of your design. You build the template to suit you and save as a template (NOT a chart). Assuming you already have the list of symbols you want in your group, you would click on Charts, New Chart, select the just saved template and then pick your first symbol.

That symbol will now paint on the template chosen and you'll have your first chart of the group. Important next step! Save this new chart AS a "chart". WOW will ask where you want this, and you will have to have previously created a subdirectory for it. WOW won't let you do it later (dumb).

Now, I already see I'm a little ahead of myself. Creating a group of stocks is really a two step affair, as far as I know. I have a large list of stocks/charts saved in a subdirectory called "Lowtraders". I imagine there are 300 charts in there. Out of that list, I have selected a "few" to save as a group which I call "NEARABUY", meaning a signal is imminent (I hope).

So, once you've saved a chart of each thing you want to watch (save a chart on stuff you may be interested in later, as well, you only need to do this once), now you're ready to actually create a group. You go to the list of all the saved symbols/charts and simply open one of them by clicking on it. Now press "Ctrl-O" and the list reappears, click on the next one for the group. After you've opened several in this fashion, you would press "Alt-F-G" to File a Group. Wow will ask you for a name for this group, which you enter. Then, to be sure (I guess) you will have to enter this name a second time.

That's it! Next time you want to see the group you click Charts, Group at the WOW opening. The group name appears and you click on it. Each stock in the group will cascade and can then be viewed, scanned or whatever.

The key is that each chart must be created on the selected template first, then saved individually (one time only). Then each one must be selected to "open" one after another and saved as a "group".

Once you get this far, there are some things that can be done to manipulate the group, but I'll save that for another time.

Good luck! Ken
