Ken,

Thanks for the help. You obviously know your way around WoW quite well. Getting around some of these difficulties is kind of frustrating for me. I thought the software would work more seamlessly. I am considering moving to other software like Metastock 6 or Supercharts. Do you think that would make things simpler, and have you felt the same way? Do you own any other charting software and if you don't is your determination with WoW a case of just wanting to put something to use?

Junnie...

Just went over my last post. It's not as clear as I thought it was when I wrote it <G>. As I see it, you can solve your problem either of two ways. Richard has suggested you simply copy the symbols you want to follow over into a new directory. Call it what you want. As long as there are fewer than 255 symbols, this will work. If you have more than 255, simply create another directory for the balance.

Once this is done, you really don't have to do anything else in order to run scans on that directory. Just create your test criteria as already described by building a template. Now set up WOW to run a test using that template. A fast machine will test 255 symbols in minutes.

On the other hand, if you find (as I do) that you most often want to look at a chart that contains the same MA's, same 2-4 favorite indicators, same whatever else, you'll need to save those individually. Here's how to do that.

As I said in the other post, create your "ideal" chart, using any symbol, but save it as a "template". That template can be used in the future for all the other symbols. When WOW saves a template it saves only the template and not the symbol associated with the template.

Since I like to personalize most of my charts with their own trendlines and notes to myself (I write directly on the chart if there is something I don't want to miss next time I view it) each chart must be saved by itself. You do this while viewing each symbol with the chosen template, but when you come to a chart you want to personalize for later perusal you do so, then save it as a "chart". This is where you must have previously told WOW where you will be saving these charts, as it won't let you name a new directory at the time you want to save a new chart.

Here's a hint that will save some grief later. Once you've done all the above and saved a "chart", immediately delete all your notes and trendlines, etc. that you used for personalization. If you don't, they become a part of the "template" until you either shut off the machine or erase them. When you save a second chart later, it will have the earlier personalization on it, and just be confusing.

Finally, it is from this batch of saved charts that you can pick and choose those you may want to make a "special" group of charts. My earlier post details how to build a group in this manner.

Am I making sense here? Certainly hope so. If you need more help, don't hesitate.

Good luck! Ken
