Less markdowns and writeoff of obsolescent stock. My problem was no fire insurance. When I was in retailing we thought fires were the best thing going. You got paid by the insurance company. You opened up a smoking operation in the back and could smoke as much merchandise as you needed. You sold it at "half" price and made double your costs. What a deal.

But with this firesale, I had no insurance and my stock certificate printer is on the bum (Lavalle's is working fine). But I do have a few shares in inventory and when they stop with these markdowns, I will be very happy.

"Buy two get the next four free" has been pretty discouraging to my stock manager. He likes the new slogan "price increases soon, buy now and save big time. Christmas is only 194 shopping days away".
