"And finally I want to ask George how do you say/write soccer in Greek."

Football will do just fine just about everywhere (except here)

If you want to get academic, the real word is

podosfairo

podo=foot
sfairo=ball (round)

Zebra,

Have mercy! The last soccer match I watched was the 1994 final
between Brazil and Italy*..I'm sure that after the first round
everything will be crystal clear to me and predictions of all types will follow...I also have no idea who is playing and who is not..who are the stars of the moment?...For instance I see as a
negative that Romario is not playing for Brazil and I see their
chances diminishing considerably because of it.

Here I have a few questions for the thread:

Is Maradona playing? How about
Biaggio? Name a few of the superstars to watch during the world series.

Regards

Victor

*I still remember Biaggio's penalty kick going out of the money!

My humble guess:

1.- Argentina
2.- Germany
3.- England
4.- Brazil

I think there are only five soccer superpowers: Argentina, Brazil, England, Germany and Italy (alphabetic order).
Having said this, I must say that there are few teams that can be taken for granted, well, maybe Japan.

What I can say about Argentina is that there are some excellent players, especially offensive players: Ortega, Crespo, Batistuta, Lopez. We shall put up a great show!!!!
