Nortel did not BUY Plaintree they only put up some 6.3 million (9mil Canadian)

Nortel would buy BAY for its distribution channells not its technology.

As far as technology is concerned the Bay-Accelar line isn't worth the
the amalgam its held together with.

On the other hand the Plaintree 9200 ROCKS!!!!!

FDDI/TX/FX/Router Acceleration/Gigabit!!! combine that with Nortel ATM and WAN products you finally have a one stop shop with good products.

We all know Cabletrons integration problems, we all know that BAY boxes don't scale to the 5-6 thousand node network without installing
millions of dollars worth of routers and then spending hundreds of thousands more to manage the overly complex routed network.

We also all know that Cisco boxes fall all over each other and that Cisco will do anything to convince you to keep as many routers in your NEtwork as you can fit in your building!!!

Plaintree at 2 bucks US seems to be the play here. For every 100 BAY
you get 1400 plaintree. And Plaintree will more than double long before you see even a 50% rise in BAY!!!!!
