Katherine,

In the light of recent announcements, what is
possible future for Semitool? Are they dead, or is
their copper electroplating tool still a necessary
cutting-edge tool?

I was long Semitool, but switched to ASYT.
I am wondering whether there's a point of buying
back in the future.

Your reports are great!

Thanks

Jurgis

While I cannot dispute NVLS market strength and PR machine, and given their hell bent image on being the "King of the Hill In Damascene," it is my understanding that SMTL is still about 6 months ahead of NVLS and AMAT with regards to Cu and their ECD tool (formerly known as Equinox). SMTL unfortunately has little to no PR and it doesn't help in the short term being located in Montana. Now, whether they can compete with NVLS and AMAT is an entirely different question. Have you had a check out SMTL's Cu tool? Do you have any impressions on Semitool?
