Tom and Jim:
The one bit of data that would make me feel optimistic is insider buying. If the co's prospects are so good management would be in there with both feet. I haven't seen any such activity....Nor have I heard of any confirmation of management's expectations that sales orders would begin picking up in the second and third quarter....so I'm waiting for the next ungrammatical but petrifying "pre-announcement"....when the blood is flowing in the streets and the stock is at 10.5, I'll be a happy buyer. But I won't buy above 10.5 until either management starts buying themselves, or they confirm that sales orders have indeed picked up to levels approaching last year's pace.

J.B: That P/S comparison may not be valid. Unlike VLSI , INTC has a near monopoly. The current P/S and P/B are low but not at absolute low. I believe the P/S has been below 1 (0.67) during 92 to 94. Fortunately the P/B has never been below 1. With a book of $11 we should be safely above that mark.

I do believe that the market for communication products is healthy and we should reap the rewards when the Asian cloud lifts. Every cloud blows away in time. I can only recommend one be patient till then.

Hi Jim, The Cash Register is finally down to pocket change! I added 5% more share to my VLSI holding yesterday at $15-1/2. Maybe the low volume means there's nobody left owning the stock but you and me!!!

Re: INTC, any way one looks at INTC, Price/Sales, Price/Book, etc, it is no shining star. It's just that it has "sponsorship" with the big mutuals and institutions, I guess.

Best regards, Tom
