Contest update <http://townlet.com/sowbug/contest/>:

I've missed out on the last 414 messages on this thread; if there was any discussion about the rules for the next quarter's contest, I'd appreciate a summary.

Bummer on the margin calls, but your analysis is solid IMO. INTC would have pre-announced on Monday. We are now searching for the second bottom. Hope for a lower bottom tomorrow and the rest of the week and buy the dip. It's a good one. Maybe our best chance this year. It was more obvious to some that INTC wasn't going to pre-announce when DELL's earnings were above estimates (if barely) and CPQ was happy with theirs...

The fakeout was the morning pump,
not so much the slide thereafter. H&Q is always pulling
cute little tricks like that.

One thing about TLAB/Cien. Wasn't TLAB only one of
several (or a few, anyway) customers of Cien, and so abiding
by getting bought is an acknowledgement of their need for
a protected customer base - ie they avoid inevitable
competition. Otherwise if they had an added technological edge
it would be stunting to service only one of the telecom equipment
companies.
