*AV*--I have a tendency to agree with you about the HDSL part of your statement. However, I had the opportunity to visit PAIR and interface with many of its Engineering Personnel. They have a very gifted Design organization complete with some of the best Analog and Mix Signal Engineers. I give them a good thumbs up in the telecommunications industry moving forward.

PAIR is a fabless company with foundry contracts for its IC manufacturing. This is where some to a good deal of the "Black Magic" resides. True, they have a name for themselves in the hardware portion of the business, but they have the ability to shift focus to new products and designs on an aggressively fast schedule. I see them as a dynmaic organization able to roll with the changes in the industry, if they need to. I have to say that I like this company more for its brains then for its beautiful looks<GGG>.

I am looking at PAIR much the same as with QCOM, another fabless enterprise that will deal with wireless communications along with its hardware infrastructure.

I respect your opinion and you may be correct in your assertion that it does not belong on the list. A good case could be made for putting TBR on the list since I am familiar with them. TBR is a traders dream, especially with LEAPS and OPTIONS. This stock is one of the more volatile stocks I have seen in awhile. The swings it goes through could be extremely profitable when played correctly. My reluctance with TBR is that it is a South American concern and I do not fully understand the dynamics of a company that ould be dramatically affected by run awsy inflation or devaluation of currencies on a grand scale.

I have written off WFR for 2-3 years based on the industry downturn. It will take a great deal of time to recoup its price back into the mid 20s to high 30s. I think I may have to wait until 300mm is in full production before giving this stock a thumbs up. I still like the company but it will be a stagnate sleeper for awhile.

I will evaluate your comments and possibly change my mind on PAIR. I really would like UTEK to get into the top 10 but the more I read about internet telephony, the more I am convinced that a good telecommunications pick like FTEL, ICGX, WCII, etal. should be included.

Andrew

BTW-I could really use a great options play for this week. With the SOX down, DOW really down, and the NASDAQ cratering (Sorry Trader X but there will be no 2000 in June of 1998), I could really appreciate a nice gain for the week.

Jeff M-A great article appeared in the local newspaper related to the YR2000 problem. This was one of the best and shortest "The Sky is Falling and we are Doomed" stories I have seen in a long time. I will scan it and post it on the thread later tonight.
