Sam:

Apology accepted. Sorry I jumped on you.

I admire and respect you for not being one of the many who jumps upon the public handout wagon. I'm surprised you didn't declare bankruptcy though to wipe out your medical bills and protect your retirement. I do not believe there is anything immoral about that, it is a protection created specifically to shield the individual (in this case, you) from catastrophic economic ruin which is just about what it seems you've gone through.

Like you, I am not a supporter of either the Republicans or the Democrats. I have come to realize they are just two sides to the same statist coin that does not empower individuals but instead diminishes our power and subverts the original rights we had under the Constitution.

I am really tired of the government (or I should say, "governments" -- local, state and federal) taking the money that I create away from me with the threat of force or imprisonment if I do not comply, and then doling it out to programs I never supported and am diametrically opposed to. I am also tired of seeing men and women whom I am philosophically opposed to make laws and, in essence, tell me how I should behave, what I should think, and how I owe a debt to society. I owe no debt, quite the contrary, many owe me!
