To all:
I called WSTL this afternoon and spoke to it's CFO who mentioned following:
1)ALA/DSC deal has no short term affect to WSTL's bussness. WSTL and DSC are choozen by BEL because WSTL's CAP is the only solution that meet the tech requirement for the roll-out.
2)In the long term, WSTL has to countinue to work with BEL in order to compete with orther vendors.
3)Since there are many orther vendors, such as ALA who mainly work on the development of MDT tech which is still not ready at this point, the quicker the roll-out is, the better for WSTL.

Vladimir:

I'm not saying the deal is "only" about DSL. I'm simply saying that if ALA wants to push the issue, they have the capital and the relationship with BEL via DIGI to make BEL an offer they can't refuse. IMO, BEL's initial price point of $70 per month for 640Kbps plus $200 for a modem plus $99 for installation is a non-starter here in Pittsburgh. ALA is big enough to help BEL make those numbers look a lot friendlier if they so desire. They may not care about squashing a gnat like WSTL, but they could.
