John, Even with your admitted US-centric viewpoint how can you ignore Newbridge Networks as a major player in the mulitservice WAN? I don't have the percentages, but I believe that NN is currently the leader in that particular market niche.

Re -- ps What happens to Bay and Ascend if they hold out on Nortel and Ericson and October 1st comes and Lucent DOESN'T call?

Cisco's margins plummets (Bay is still profitable, people keep forgetting this). and Cisco stock tumbles!!!

Without Cisco's INFLATED stock currency, Cisco wont be able to buy R&D, and will have to use its own engineers, who are stuck maintaining their IOS, and dont have any R&D experience.

Cisco's stock spirals further down.!!!

John,

I concur, this will be a Huge business with room for lots of competitors.

I agree that Cisco should take a majority share of it with their business model and engineering.

You folks are doing a great job!
