I have been disappointed with the quality and reliability
of reviews in PC Magazine lately. Of course, I also
dropped my Byte subscription, and I caught Boot in too
many errors to put up with them either (and I even saw
them stonewall it when readers wrote in to challange).
In short, when it comes to trade mags, I guess
I don't like anybody very much <GGG>.

Agreed. They have been bad for years.

Don't beleive a word they say. Their reviews are highly incomplete and miss major points that are important to many people. There is no subsitute for experience.

I like boot but they are basically a bunch of arrogant young geeks. at least they speak their mind. I understand them though, I was one once....

BTW: Let me introduce myself since I just stumbled across this thread. I am computer hardware designer by day and part time network consultant by night. I work for a major networking company. Have been interested in PC's for over 15 years. Have owned virtually every type of PC that has been sold (apple, atari, commode, amiga, ibm, etc). PC's and Investing are my hobbies. Hope to hang out and see if I can field a few questions and learn a few things all the same time....

"But I'd rather listen to Dave and Zeuspaul and Networm myself."

Spots, you are truly a humble gentleman as well as an extremely articulate guru. :) I can't speak for the capable Zeuspaul and Networm, but I'm pretty certain I learn more from you than you do from me.

<<Insert grateful recollection of Spots helping Dave figure out how to get TCPIP on NT working here.>>

Regards,

Dave
