And the WWF license goes to ...

THQ? Midway? GTI? Who do we think makes the most sense? Since THQ already has the Nitro engine, a tradition of wrestling games, and the loss of its wrestling license only a few months before Acclaim's WWF license expires, it makes sense that it be THQ. However, it really depends how Farrell wants to spend the warchest.

I do think back to Vic's "Controversial" post though. It reminds me that if THQ truly wants the license it should be able to offer more than any competitor. This is due to already having the engine but perhaps more importantly, the bump in share price would allow THQ to have an easier time making acquisitions.

Thoughts?

Marc

Bleeker, I am still puzzling over your post re institutional ownership. It showed Navalier owing 10.4% and Bjurman George owning 6.55%. I assume from your post this is as of April 1st, 1998.

Since I read in THQ's proxy statement that "As of May 7, 1998 there are no persons known to the Company that beneficially own more than 5% of the outstanding Common Stock," I have to conclude that Navallier and BG sold a lot or possibly all of their THQ stock sometime between April 1 and May 7th. Since this was the time period in which the stock went from over 33 to 24 in a few days, this makes sense. At least now we know who to blame for THQ's recent rout: Trigger happy momentum style institutions bailing out. Then again, they were probably responsible for THQ's rise to over 33 in the first place.
