Thomas,
Not meaning to be crass, but why is it so important to bailout Russia? I know this is a totally selfish view, but I don't see it Russia being a domino in the world string of dominoes. For some reason a lot of people do, but I notice they never "connect the dots," so to speak and state exactly the repercussions of a failed soviet financial system.

I just don't understand? Russia just does not seem to be that deep into Western debt. They do have a lot of oil reserves, I didn't think they pump out that much. I think even if Russia fell, I bet the oil would continue pumping somehow because that would be in the world's interest.

Doesn't Jimmy Rogers(not that I'm a huge fan) say Russia is to big, to scattered, to many languages, to many ethnic regions, etc. I believe he thought it would be good for a split up into smaller countries. I believe they have already lost quite a few as it stands today.

The only thing I have ever heard that makes sense is not one of economics, it's one of social responsibility involving the nuclear weapons scattered throughout Russia. Is this the real and only problem?
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
