Greetings fellow AIMers, This is my first post to Silicon Investor although I have been lurking here for many moons. I have been an avid follower of the AIM system since way before the internet was a household name, so I will give you some background on how I ended up in this remote corner of it. I read Mr. Lichello's book about 5 or 6 years ago and couldn't put it down being a novice investor and closet mathematician. I remember getting out a ruler and paper and plotting AIM charts for hours on end..very tedious. A good friend of mine had an IBM 286 at the time and after explaining the system to him, we decided to try to automate it with Lotus 123 (version 2 I think). We had been building a roulette system at the time, but that's another story. Ahh, the good old days. A black and white monitor and no mouse. Anyway, we managed to get the AIM system up and running and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, to jump ahead a few years, I finally got my first computer and within 2 days was typing all those formulas into a Works spreadsheet and formatting the thing to look fancy. I had dozens of spreadsheet files. Stocks I owned, stocks I watched, stocks I thought would perform well...you get the idea. To jump ahead again to the beginning of this year, my cohort, after moving to California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama, ended up back in Florida (where I reside), called me up one day and said "Hey, we ought to fix up that AIM program and sell it on the internet" (profound statement). He already had a little consulting website built and thought we could easily transform it into his idea. After many fits and starts (and a 1200 page HTML book), we managed to build a website from the ground up to show off what we had come to call the "PCA system" (Position Cost Averaging). The PCA system was transformed little by little from a difficult to use Excel spreadsheet, to a user friendly Windows-like Excel Workbook that included the integrated "Profitrak" system. The system we developed was "strictly by the book" and made the EXACT same trades shown in Mr. Lichello's examples. We did decide to make one modification. The PCA system will NEVER run the portfolio out of cash. I f a trade is signaled that is larger than the cash position at the time, it is ignored. This change does not affect the performance of the system under normal circumstances. One of the advantages of our system is the ability to download historical price data and simply paste it into the price column of the system, allowing the user to run real life scenarios in seconds. We are in the process of adding many more features to the system such as an input for the beginning cash (for those who wish to start with more or less cash than the default amount), a range finder ( which shows your next buy and sell and number of shares), and an adjustable SAFE. If this sounds similar to Newport, it is. I like to think of Newport as Intel and ourselves as AMD ;) We have been selling our PCA system on the net now for about 3 months and have had a fair amount of success introducing those who have never heard of AIM or Lichello to the theories of this unique investing system. We never realized how much work this idea would create. There's the website to manage, the constant improvement to the software, the marketing (banners, links, search engines, etc.) and the filling of our orders. We have the system available for download from our Virtual Offices and also offer it on diskette. The system is available in Excel, Works, Quattro, and Excel for Macintosh (Lotus coming soon). Whew....what a lot of choices to manage. Anyway, I don't want my first post here to be a novel, so I will wrap this up for now by asking you fellow AIMers to please take a look at our website (especially the Real-life stock examples) and tell me what you think. I have a lot of good ideas to share with this group and plan to steer my thoughts in the future to stock picking for the system and other non-commercial musings. The URL for the PCA system is: stocksystem.com I would like to express our appreciation to Tom Veale for all his time and effort spent in setting up the whole AIM universe here on the net and let him know that our PCA manual points all users to his sites. I also hope that Newport has seen an increase in sales due to our efforts in introducing many new investors to the AIM world. You will be hearing a lot more from me in the future as I didn't finally join SI just to lurk some more. Take care and AIM for profits. Sincerely, Bill McKinley Dataminer1@stocksystem.com
