Taiwanese notebook with MPEG-2, 15.1 inch LCD screen, and DVD-ROM....

June 5, 1998 (TAIPEI) -- Kapok Computer Co., a notebook PC manufacturer in
Taiwan, showcased products equipped with a built-in 15.1-in. color thin-film
transistor liquid-crystal display (TFT-LCD) at Computex Taipei'98.
With that panel size, the model is the largest notebook PC on the market.

There are three different models, the "8500," "8700" and "8900." All models
come with the same specifications, while appearances such as the pointing device
slightly vary.

The resolution of the 15.1-in. LCD is 1,024 x 768 dots. The processor is either a
300MHz or 266MHz Pentium II. The floppy disk drive can be replaced with an
LS-120 or a ZIP drive. The PCs are equipped with an MPEG-2 playback
feature. A model with a built-in DVD-ROM drive is expected to be available as
well.
