RE: Japan. As of a few months ago, this was going great. Haven't checked in more recently, though. I could see ORCL buying VNTV - Larry hates Tom, John hates Tom,(enemy of my enemy is my friend). ORCL having trouble with apps - buys out VNTV as pre-emptive strike to prevent PSFT or SAP from picking up VNTV. SEBL market cap pretty damn big to make it interesting acquisition candidate. With premium, it would be something like close to $2 BB; VNTV would be something like $1.2 BB.
