Caxton, do you have a take on how much the ECC is gonna demand?

I'm sure it won't be sale of UUnet. I think that could actually be a deal buster. It is also absurd. Wcom had that going in. The MCI net pieces are smaller.

Worst case I guess is divest all of the MCI net business. Since Wcom has no residential business, or almost none, there seems little overlap there. So maybe the compromise is the MCI's retail business internet accounts have to go with the backbone.

What do you think?

Trying to decide if I should increase my MCIC position, which is already pretty large.

Doug

<He reiterated his view that whatever solution the companies offer, it must be checked with competitors. >

I'm sure that the competitors will offer the EU a totally unbiased view of what's fair to punish WCOM for being an aggressive leader.

This is ridiculous, as is divestiture of UUNet, which will result in both companies having less Internet backbone than either has now.

Why don't they just turn over the management of the EU to the president of GTE.
