Father Terrence, your post reminds me of a point I would like to make, and it is that Jesus is not responsible for what his followers did. I think it is easy to forget that when Jesus was alive he was a Jew--there were not any Christians!!! I think he was a very radical and brave guy, although I do not think you would find much to like about him, because he seems to have been sort of a leftist rabble rouser who believed in civil rights for the common man. He wasn't much into materialism, either. I think Jesus would be absolutely horrified by the crimes which have been committed in his name.
