Sorry, I can not document the source, as at the time it did not seem important, but I read, within the last several days, Mr. Van Miert stated he would abide by US decisions in regard to the WCOM/MCI merger. It is possible, as implied, he is posturing strongly for effect on the EU audience, and his present job. K

Steven and all -

You have seen my comments re Mr Van Miert. If any of us are at all interested in helping WCOM get the deal done might I suggest that someone who knowe IR at the company or senior employee if you are watching get a few of us to write to to Senate/Congress referring to two other deals which are the other way around ie Simon and Schuster being acquired by a UK company and of course Chrsyler being acquired by the Germans.

If the same sort of problems were to suddenly appear with either of these two especially the Chrysler deal then and only then would Mr Van Miert think carefully about leaving WCOM alone to do their business.
