Dennis, for the last time, I remind you that you overlook, completely and obviously, the core issue of *how* Apple will ever be a SUCCESSFUL service-oriented company, successfully interacting at the user level, given their past "screw the consumer" tendencies

c-man-I am sure you feel very strongly about your feelings and I don't doubt you. However, I must remind you to put your own feelings in with apple as a whole.

Apple has (and has for many years) the highest customer satisfaction rating of any computer maker. This has been for as long as I can remember. If apple were truly out to "screw the consumer" their high rating would not be so.

You've made your point-but it simply does not reflect a large majority of users opinions, especially in relation to other computer manufacturers.

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the hypocrite of them all? c-man, Your summary of Apple in quoted posts as "given their past screw the consumer tendencies" and "the huge list of product failures, and more importantly *HOW THEY HANDLED THEM* tells us much of the Apple past" are your opinions as a non-authorized reseller. They best describe a *Past Apple* under the leadership of Sculley's failed administration, Spindler's debacles and Amilio's excuses for all the above. I do not refute Apple's past mistakes nor take issue with your assessment. But you fail to realize that a company's policies and corporate culture, whether it be Apple or any other, begins at the top and channels down. Blame the weak *Past Apple* CEOs Sculley, Spindler and Amelio and the BoD that nominated/elected them for the past mistakes. They're responsible, not Jobs or Apple today. Now that Jobs is the new interim CEO at Apple, making changes (long over due) that *investors support*, you launch into a diatribe of Jobs/Bod/Apple's present insincerity and write "THE HYPOCRACY GALLS ME and once again tells us something of the Apple corporate ethic". Redirected your diatribe to those who want to have their cake -- and eat it too....non-authorized resellers. A change in a company's business strategy makes them a hypocrite? Duh, I don't think so. Then you ask me "Do you not now understand why I believe Apple's corporate ethic is abysmal?" If we follow your train of thought, Apple is dammed if they do, dammed if they don't! Maybe so, since you're a *pissed-off* non-authorized reseller, but so be it. We'll have to take the wait-and-see approach and measure Apple's profits and customer responses. Apple's market share has dwindled over the years, and I agree with you Apple needs to grow their market share to 8-10%. I believe Apple can achieve their goals under the present leadership at Apple. Numerous reasons why/how they are to accomplish this are listed throughout this board. I strongly disagree with your statement "Apple is only LEGALLY responsible as a manufacturer and perhaps philosophically responsible as the corporate mother behind the product design and release...the real, street-level, make-the-customer-happy responsibility falls solely on the reseller or dealer". That's BS! The manufacture has the responsibility to assure quality products and establish Customer Satisfaction Standards their *Authorized VARS and Service Outlets* must adhere to (exercised though their franchise agreement). The manufacture also has the responsibility to monitor *Authorized VARS and Service Outlets* and if they don't make the grade, yank their franchise. But in the case of those non-authorized resellers, such as yourself, they circumvent the franchise system and thus create the need for Apple's 'Searchlight Program' to assure compliance to Apple's standards. Sure, you maybe one of the better service providers, but you have chosen not to comply and blame Apple for demanding compliance. We can learn something from a quote at MF AAPL thread: "Give a man a crisis and he cries for a day. Teach a man to create his own crisis and he cries for the rest of his life." Have you created your own crisis by choosing to be a non-authorized reseller and, more importantly, will you cry the rest of your life? Regards, Dennis
