freeus--- At the time of the buyout I heard that YURI was worth anywhere from 850 million to 1 billion depending upon the source . I personally don't feel they overpaid due to the fact is was a friendly merger which is important to bring a new technology (ATM) for LU into the fold . This allows them not miss a step in their quest to become the true powerhouse in data networking It also was my understanding that the deal was accreative from the beginning .
The issue on accounting for a company as large as LU ( 25 billion ) to me is mute since they have a big six firm looking over there shoulder . Also can individual investor name their source ?

BEST WISHES
BILL

freeus,

I remember a while back, I think it was last year sometime, rumors were that LU had "liberal" accounting practices. A LU spokesman came out immediately after those rumors and denounced any such practices and reassured investors that they have "very conservative" accounting practices. IMHO when companies do as well as LU there are bound to be some skeptics who want to rain on everyones parade. Do you think LU is going somewhere? Do you think they are going to be around in the next 5, 10, 15 years? If you answer YES then I wouldn't pay attention to those rumors. Companies that "cook" the books are usually those companies that don't have a very bright future. Good, strong companies with a future don't have to manipulate their numbers. I believe LU has a very bright future.
