Final Word and Fond Farewell

As most who have written, I'm happy that the share price is up 70% since last week. I've owned DSC shares for years and as they say in the trade, I have an extra-base hit here. But why does it feel like walking on eggs? Alcatel's share price went sideways for years until it bounced up earlier this year, just in time to buy DSC with stock. So we participate in the telecom equipment elevation via the back door.

DSC has always been Mr. Donald's company. Remember the conference calls: always "I sell to the RBOC's", never "We sell to the RBOC's". The management team surrounding Mr. Donald has been transitory, the company's biggest problem in my opinion. Maybe Alcatel can fix that.

I don't want to own Alcatel shares, so I will sell. What to do with the funds? Half go into our family's DRIP portfolio (rules to live by in our investing situation). McDonalds, Coke, Home Depot or whatever. The other half I can re-invest. Something more speculative: maybe Etrade, Phycor, Network Associates.

Thank you for all the DSC posts over the last several years. I have tried to contribute honestly and positively. I've learned from you and hope that I have contributed to your benefit also.

So I'll just push the "delete bookmark" button ...
