I am really not too sure any of these companies will exist in their present format in a couple of years, with the exception of Cisco. I do look for the top four Cisco, Bay, 3Com and Cabletron to be consolidation targets. Probably within 18 months or so the top four 'networking' companies will consist of two of the former and two names not associated with this market today. My guess is that Cisco and 3COM will remain over the next two years. With Bay and Cabletron both under new leadership. An interesting side note. Both Bay and Cabletron were "hatched" under the same roof. Just one of the reasons there is so much animosity between the two.
